Prop 65 is a California law that originally governed

drinking water. It is now used broadly to reduce

consumer exposure to items that might cause cancer,

birth defects, or reproductive harm.

PROP 65 UPCOMING CHANGES

•Effective June 1, 2020, the following changes will impact all current and future stock:

•Drastically reduced lead content limits

•In some cases the limit changes from 60,000 ppm to 500 ppm

•Removed the classification system (Class 1, Class 2, Class 3)

•A Certificate of Compliance (CofC) is required

•Defined a child as someone under 15 years old

•Was formerly 6 years old

•Did away with most exemptions in children’s jewelry

•Added a cadmium limit for children’s jewelry, including a soluble limit (applies to surface coatings)

•Adopted the federal standard for lead in children’s jewelry
